Kelly Matthews

From the organization’s inception, Mrs. Matthews has served as DMV Freedmen’s Chief Financial Officer and as a Producer, Writer and Photographer for our media arm By the People Media. This labor of love for lineage pride, reparations advancement and civic engagement is the absolute least Mrs. Matthews feels is necessary to ensure there will be better America for her two children and three grandchildren. Professionally, after working exclusively in the nonprofit arena for over 15 years, Mrs. Matthews established an accounting firm, MBA Services, LLC, in 2007. As owner and principal, Mrs. Matthews works directly with nonprofits, small businesses and entrepreneurs to provide a range of services impacting their financial structure and trajectory. She holds a Master of Science in Administration from Central Michigan University, a BS in Accounting from New England College, a BA in Communication from Seton Hill University, and several certifications. Mrs. Matthews is also married and an active member of the National Association of Black Journalist (NAJB).
